Job Summary

Under general direction of MGBMG Tuscan leadership individual performs a variety of patient contact duties related to the operations of ultrasound equipment as directed by a physician. Explains safety protocols and routine diagnostic procedures to patients. The individual must have the capability of performing routine diagnostic procedures with speed, method, accuracy and understanding of theory behind same.

What You'll Work On

  • Perform scheduled Echocardiogram as well as urgent procedures as directed by clinicians and the daily schedule availability.
  • Work with nursing team to perform Stress Echo testing when needed.
  • Provide explanation and guidance as appropriate to patients and caregivers allowing high throughput and patient compliance.
  • Observe all protocols and documentation as directed by Cardiologists and IAC.
  • Work in partnership with Director, site leads and MGB to accommodate approved research studies when schedule allows.
  • Maintain all Echo equipment keeping exam rooms free of clutter and observing all cleaning and sanitation of supplies and Echo department.
  • Attend all meetings as requested by leadership and clinicians.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and HPI as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's degree or equivalent

  • RDCS or RDCS eligible

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience for candidates with RDCS

  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant, internal MGB experience for candidates with no RDCS

Preferred

  • BS or BA

  • Past experience performing complete echocardiographic examinations independently

  • Able to acquire echocardiographic examination in digital format

  • Able to prepare a preliminary echocardiographic report

  • Perform expected volume of studies on a consistent basis

  • Able to use a variety of ultrasound equipment

  • Understand the scheduling rotation matrix

  • Knowledge of anatomy, cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of universal precautions.

  • Effective interpersonal and communications skills, Attention to detail, Ability to provide compassionate care to patients and Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and disease.
  • Ability to operate ultrasound equipment utilizing a variety of possible techniques, including M-mode, two-dimensional, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler flow mapping.
  • Ability to make knowledgeable clinical assessments and judgments.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stress, using tact and good judgment.
  • Demonstrate analytical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as a care team member.
