Job Description
General Summary
Reporting to the Cash Operations Co-Managers, and taking direction from the Cashier/Cook, the Cashier is responsible for the preparation and selling of food and beverage items at the Greer Store and Louis Café.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service to all guests in the Greer Store and/or Café.
- Operate a computerized POS system, ensuring proper handling of cash, credit and student OneCards. Accurately balance cash drawer at end of each shift.
- Prepare beverages including espresso drinks and smoothies.
- Under supervision, operate commercial kitchen equipment, including espresso machines and soft-serve dispensers.
- Properly and thoroughly clean machines as requested.
- Maintain the counter and dining area in a neat, clean, and sanitary manner.
- Assist with restocking shelves or inventory as requested.
- Ability to assist with light food preparation, as requested
- Adhere to food safety standards at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- 3-12 months experience in food service, food preparation, sanitation, and safety practices in a commercial kitchen.
- Knowledge of cash register operation and basic cash handling procedures.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with others.
- Ability to understand hazards and follow safety procedures when using chemicals and equipment.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and overtime.
Working Conditions
- Ability to sustain manual labor for eight hours or more.
- Ability to stand and/or walk on a hard surface for eight hours or more.
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently.
- Ability to stoop frequently.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms frequently.
- Ability to frequently grasp and manipulate objects with both hands.
- Ability to frequently perform tasks of repetitive motion with arms, hands and wrists, such as cutting, slicing, stirring, and serving food.
- Worker is frequently subject to cold from walk-in refrigerators and freezers.
- Worker is occasionally subject to extreme heat or humidity in kitchen area.
- Worker is occasionally subject to loud noise.
- Worker is frequently exposed to chemical agents.

SIGN-ON BONUS
The successful candidate will receive a $1,000 sign-on bonus ($500 paid at time of hire and $500 paid at the end of 90 days of employment.
