Job Description

SUMMARY: 

Responsible for implementing and ensuring all housekeeping and groundskeeping operations on assigned shift are in accordance with policies and procedures and high standard levels.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Ensures all policies and procedures are adhered to in the Environmental Services and Grounds Departments on assigned shift.
  • Ensures that all cleaning materials, chemicals, and equipment are used in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Maintains strict adherence to all OSHA safety rules and regulations in the Environmental Services and Grounds Departments.
  • Supervises Environmental Services and Grounds staff activities throughout the casino to ensure that approved standards of cleanliness are met.
  • Makes recommendations and suggestions to hire, promote, evaluate, reward, discipline and discharge of environmental services and groundskeeping employees.
  • Advises management of necessary repairs and replacements in assigned areas and is accountable for cleanliness and overall condition of the public areas, restrooms, offices and landscape areas, including assigned outside areas.
  • Interacts with guests and other casino department in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Checks to make sure employees have proper supplies and equipment to complete the job.
  • Trains employees in the proper cleaning techniques and proper use of equipment in the Environmental Services and Grounds Departments.
  • Trains employees in the proper use of chemicals and fertilizer when applicable.  Makes sure all bottles are labeled properly and ensures chemical bottles have proper chemical labels.
  • Maintains all work areas and ensures environmental services and groundskeeping equipment is free of safety violations.  Reports any hazardous conditions or broken equipment immediately to EVS Management.
  • Ensures that all employees comply with established safety precautions when using equipment and supplies.
  • Works with Lead Groundskeeper and/or Groundskeepers to ensure approved standards for mowing and power washing are met.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises all Environmental Services Engineers, Lead Groundskeepers, and Groundskeepers.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required with two to three years of experience in housekeeping, as well as basic landscaping knowledge.  Supervisory experience preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required.

This position requires a Level 4 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents.  Ability to write effective reports and memos.  Ability to respond to inquiries from employees or guests.  Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to interpret data from graphs.  

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock and radiation.  The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to extreme heat.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.  A casino environment is typically smoky.
