Job Description
The Highlands Transportation Driver is responsible for the safe transport of residents from all levels of care. Transportation primarily consists of local travel to and from The Highlands at Wyomissing. Occasional out of area transport is required.
Essential Functions:
- Provides safe transport of all Residents from all levels of care.
- Drives and operates various vehicles.
- Backs vehicles in and out of transportation area.
- Maneuvers vehicles in and around tight corners and around high pedestrian traffic.
- Transports residents to appointments.
- Transports residents to and from vehicles (ambulatory and wheelchair dependent residents).
- Transports staff to and from The Highlands during a declared weather emergency.
- Transports staff to and from The Highlands and volunteer locations.
- Serves as an on-call driver for emergency transports during the overnight hours of 12:00 AM-8:00 AM.
- Maintains vehicles in proper working condition, fueled and clean at all times.
- Inspects vehicles for defects before and after trips and reports any discrepancies indicating vehicle condition to manager.
- Follows all company-wide and departmental policies and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrates interest in learning additional aspects of job.
- Demonstrates regular and dependable attendance.
- Participates in all required in service training.
Travel
- Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of area travel is expected. Some weekends required.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years' driving experience
- 1-3 years' experience in the transportation of people (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills
- Customer service experience
Certification and Licensure Requirements:
- CPR Certification
- Pennsylvania Driver's License and Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record
