Job Description

Company Overview:
Wasatch Peaks Ranch is developing and building a new private mountain resort community located in the Wasatch Mountains 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. The development encompasses 12,000 acres including 3,000 acres of private ski terrain; a Tom Fazio-designed private golf course; and 460 private homes and homesites being developed under a multi-phase 10–15-year buildout. This multi-billion-dollar project will offer the most exclusive array of skiing, golf, and a variety of other amenities in a private club setting in the United States.

 

Snow Cat Operator/Groomer I, II, and III
Reports To: Grooming Supervisor and Snow Surface Manager

 

Job Summary:

The Snow Cat Operators and Grooming team must provide our members with the highest quality and safest level skiing and snowboarding surfaces possible. Snow Cat Operators follow nightly plans adjusted to meet changing and challenging weather conditions. We expect all employees to conduct themselves in a professional manner and lead by example.


Job Categories and Duties:

Snow Cat Operator I: 0-3 Years Experience

• Provide constant communication with all necessary departments and attending any required meetings.

• Doze, pack, and grade trails, base area, and lift ramps.

• Groom snow surfaces for exceptional ski/snowboard experience.

• Operate snow cat under the direction of shift supervisor.

• Adhere to snow removal, snow storage & grooming plan.

• Complete assigned tasks/projects in a safe and timely manner with a high level of quality.

• Complete pre and post shift vehicle inspection.

• Responsible for documenting and reporting issues to fleet maintenance.

• Keep vehicle clean and clutter free.

• Report safety issues to the grooming supervisor and/or snow surfaces manager.

• Keep departments safe by adhering to guidelines and setting safety policy. Must be committed to upholding all company safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
 

Snow Cat Operator II: 4+ Years Experience

• Able to fulfill all Snow Cat Operator I duties as well as:

• Provide constant communication with all necessary departments.

• Able to provide basic guidance to Snow Cat Operator I, when needed.

• Must be proficient with blade and tiller operations.

• Winch cat experience is a plus.
 

Snow Cat Operator/Groomer III: 5+ Years Experience

• Represent department professionally and work with all Mountain Operation departments to complete overall resort objectives.

• Provide constant communication with all necessary departments and attending any/all mountain operations meetings.

• Able to provide guidance to Snow Cat Operator I and II, when needed.

• Able to work closely with Grooming Supervisor to ensure the goals of grooming are met and any challenges are addressed.

• Must excel at blade and tiller operations.

• Winch cat experience is preferred.

• Must be able to make safe and reasonable decisions to adjust nightly plans to accommodate for unexpected weather-related changes.


Licenses and Special Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

• Must be able to sit for an entire shift - 8 to 10 hours at a time.

• Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with all types of personnel.

• Hand eye coordination, ability to listen and follow direction.

• Work safely near heavy equipment, high voltage, and high-water pressures.

• Ski or snowboard abilities preferred.

• Background in farming or heavy equipment is a plus.


Classification: seasonal, full-time, non-exempt


Education:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Ability to maintain a focused, alert status at all times for safety.

• Ability to assess risks and relay those risks to the team.

• Work in changing weather patterns and inclement weather.

• Safely traverse mountain terrain at different times of day.
