Position Summary:
The hospice aide (CNA) is a paraprofessional member of the interdisciplinary group who works under the supervision of a registered nurse and performsvarious servicesfor a patient as necessary to meet the patient's personal needs and to promote comfort. The hospice aideis responsible forobservingthe patient, reporting theseobservationsand documenting observations and care performed.
Hours / Schedule: Full Time; (40) hours / week. Works in patients'homein various conditions. Ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally and ability toparticipatein holiday and weekend rotation asappropriate.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Meet the training and certification requirements of the State.
Possess andmaintaincurrent CPR certification.
Licenseddriver with automobile that is insured in accordance with organization requirements and is in good working order.
Able to show empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail andthe impaired.
Prolonged standing and walking, with the ability tolift upto 50 lbs. and move patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform personal care needs after given a patient's assignment and attending to his/her requests promptly.
Meet the safety needs of patients and use equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, O2 etc.)
Perform personal care tasks including baths, back rubs, oral hygiene, shampoos, and changing bed linen as often as assigned.
Assistin dressing and undressing patients as assigned.
Assistin feeding the patient as assigned.
Assess and report on patients’ condition and significant changes to the case manager.
Adhere to the organization's documentation and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.
The hospice aide will not function in any manner, viewed as the practice of nursing according to the Nurse Practice Act. Specifically, the hospice aide will not administer medications, take physician'sordersor perform procedures requiring the training,knowledgeand skill of a licensed nurse, such as sterile techniques.
Perform other CNA duties as assigned by management to support department goals and initiatives.
