The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under general supervision while providing the assessment and appropriate treatment for the development and rehabilitation of the mentally, emotionally and physically impaired patient; based upon the medical diagnosis and the orders given by the physician that are consistent with the accepted occupational therapy standards of practice.
COTA requirements:
EDUCATION: Associate Degree in an Occupational Therapy Assistant program required.
EXPERIENCE: Six months of related experience and/or training preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES: Current certified occupational therapy assistant license from the State of Nebraska required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) with a recommended renewal date required.
