Job Summary

The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) is responsible for ensuring that Cano Health operates in compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The CCO will oversee the development, implementation, and management of the company's compliance program and work closely with senior management to promote a culture of compliance and ethical behavior.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Compliance Program Development:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective compliance program tailored to the company's specific needs and industry requirements.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Monitor and assess compliance risks and implement strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Prepare and present regular compliance reports to the CEO and the Board of Directors.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to regulatory authorities as required.
  • Training and Education:
  • Develop and deliver compliance training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and ethical conduct through ongoing education and awareness initiatives.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify and evaluate compliance risks and implement measures to address and mitigate those risks.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and compliance audits to ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Investigation and Enforcement:
  • Lead and oversee investigations into potential compliance violations and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure that disciplinary measures are enforced consistently and fairly across the organization.
  • Collaboration and Advisory:
  • Serve as a key advisor to senior management on compliance-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Legal, Internal Audit, and Human Resources, to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance.
  • Regulatory Liaison:
  • Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies and external auditors.
  • Stay informed about changes in laws and regulations and ensure that the company adapts accordingly.

  • Collaborate with Key Stakeholders:
  • Work closely with other departments, including Legal, Internal Audit, Human Resources, and IT, to ensure a cohesive approach to compliance.
  • Engage with senior management and the Board of Directors to align compliance initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Lead Thorough Investigations:
  • Oversee investigations into compliance violations with objectivity and fairness.
  • Ensure appropriate corrective actions are taken and documented.
  • Document Everything:
  • Maintain thorough records of compliance activities, investigations, training sessions, and communications.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate, organized, and easily accessible for audits and reviews.
  • Leverage Technology:
  • Utilize compliance management software and tools to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Implement data analytics to identify trends and potential compliance issues.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management and the Board on compliance activities and outcomes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs, with at least 8 years in a leadership role.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective compliance programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and transparency.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or similar are highly desirable.

Physical Requirements

This position works under usual office conditions. The employee is required to work at a personal computer as well as be on the phone for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to work extended and flexible hours when need be. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
