What you can expect as a Clinical Practitioner

As our Clinical Practitioner, you will provide direct physical therapy and consultative services to students (.5 approximately) and perform a supervisory role (.5 approximately) for school staff in various service provider roles.  The Clinical Practitioner provides organizational and supervisory support, meets regularly with staff, observes sessions, provides feedback, and facilitates problem solving. 

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:  

Supervisory Tasks  

  • Implement performance management model and provide support through observations, feedback, planning and reflection conferences, goal setting and performance review.  

  • Participate in hiring and onboarding new RSP staff as requested.

Administrative/Coordination Tasks 

  • Work with Administration and the other Supervising Practitioners and Clinical Supervisors to coordinate caseloads and workload models

  • Take an active role in program planning duties as requested

  • Train and support RSPs and educators in conducting high quality assessments as appropriate

  • Ensure student accommodations are in place as it relates to the practice of supervisees

  • Lead large/small group staff training as requested

  • Provide coaching for clinical practices

Compliance Tasks 

  • Ensure that supervisees are maintaining and updating PDP plans annually 

  • Provide mentorship as assigned

  • Work with Administration to coordinate coverage for extended absences 

  • Ensure that all Medicaid Billing elements are maintained by supervisees

  • Communicate with teams and train staff members to use data tracking software as requested

Campus Leadership/Continuous Improvement Tasks 

  • Collaboratively with the Supervising Practitioners, lead RSPs in implementing school improvement initiatives

  • In collaboration with Teachers and RSPs, maintain accurate listing of current formal assessment tools/kits and maintain a process to evaluate future needs

  • In accordance with the mentorship model, assist with coordination of staff mentors/mentor activities

Direct Service/Instructional Tasks 

  • Provide direct instruction/service to students up to 50% across all three schools

  • Complete assessments as needed 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written

  • Ability to maintain confidential information

  • Ability to work with diverse populations

  • Ability to interact in a consultative professional manner 

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and the ability to perform within precise timelines

  • Ability to prioritize and manage several responsibilities concurrently

  • Ability to utilize available resources and creative problem solving skills in supporting the growth and performance of RSP staff

  • Knowledgeable about the impact of vision and hearing impairment on development, classroom learning and community access

  • Basic familiarity with various types of low vision devices (optical and non-optical) and assistive technology or willingness to learn

  • Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding the education of students with visual impairments and other disabilities 

  • Extensive knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and understanding of how the Expanded Core Curriculum for Students with Visual Impairments is designed to support access to the general education curriculum          

  • High stress tolerance and ability to think clearly in stressful situations

  • Ability to provide feedback and manage conflict 

  • Knowledge and ability to provide training around the IEP and evaluation process 

Supervision Responsibilities:

  • Performs a supervisory role (.5 approximately) for school staff in various service provider roles

Education and/or Experience

  • Doctorate in Physical Therapy accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy (CAPTE), or equivalent

  • Experience working with students with sensory deficits in hearing, vision, multiple impairments or intellectual disabilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to complete and maintain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and Safety Care Certifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience working with children who are blind with multiple disabilities

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in mentorship and/or supervision

The following shared salary range is what Perkins reasonably expects, in good faith, to pay for the position. The applicable range could differ based on experience and qualification.

$74,200.00-$104,800.00
