Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
The Collections Manager will oversee the entirety of the AR Follow-Up and Cash Posting processes. This role requires someone who is highly analytical, process-driven, able to troubleshoot and resolve issues within the AR process. The position requires a collaborative leader who can communicate effectively with internal teams, Clinical leadership, and other stakeholders to drive performance and improve cash reimbursements and reduce AR aging.
POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze AR trends, identify patterns, and address any system or procedural issues impacting AR Follow-up and Cash Posting processes.
- Lead, train, and mentor the AR/Cash Posting team to ensure that goals are met and exceeded.
- Utilize automation and advanced technology to manage AR/Cash Posting workflows and facilitate follow-up efforts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Front Desk/Client Access, Benefits and Eligibility, and Claims Billing to resolve billing and AR issues.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve collections, reduce outstanding balances, and enhance cash flow.
- Review AR Aging reports regularly and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure timely follow-up on outstanding claims and resolve issues related to denials or underpayments.
- Collaborate with insurance companies to facilitate timely payments.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of ERAs, paper EOBs.
- Supervise and train payment posting staff, set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations.
- Coordinate payment reconciliation between posted amounts and bank deposits, resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Generate reports on performance metrics and identify areas for improvements.
- Monitor team progress based on performance benchmarks and address issues as they arise.
- Active participant in Revenue Cycle Monthly Operational Reviews to address denial trends.
- Develop and monitor metrics highlighting the viability of the team.
- Recommend improvements to streamline operational and system problems.
- Must adopt a "working" Manager philosophy.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of government and commercial insurance procedures, regulations and billing requirements.
- Strong analytical and organization skills.
- Ability to lead and/or work as a member of various cross-functional teams.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong understanding of quality customer service.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in related field is required
- Combination of Experience and Education considered in lieu of Education requirements on a case-by-case basis.
EXPERIENCE:
- 7+ years' experience in healthcare, preferably Behavioral Health.
- Extensive AR Follow-up and Cash Posting background.
- Experience with billing through Electronic Health Records.
- Supervisory experience required.
