Director of Human Resources
Envue, Autograph CollectionWeehawken, NJ
Envue, Autograph Collection — a distinctive, design-forward luxury hotel overlooking the Hudson River — is seeking a strategic, people-focused Director of Human Resources to lead all HR operations and elevate the colleague experience across our property. This role is an integral member of the Executive Leadership Team and a key partner in shaping a culture of excellence, hospitality, and operational effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
Serve as a strategic advisor to the General Manager and Executive Team on all people-related matters.
Develop, implement, and monitor HR strategies aligned with the hotel's business objectives and brand standards.
Champion a high-performance culture that supports guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and operational excellence.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Lead full-cycle recruitment for all departments, ensuring timely staffing to meet business needs.
Develop workforce plans, job descriptions, and recruiting strategies to attract top hospitality talent.
Oversee orientation and onboarding programs to ensure a seamless and engaging start for all new hires.
Employee Relations & Compliance
Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding policies, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns. (Union Experience)
Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as Marriott/Autograph Collection policies.
Conduct thorough investigations, document findings, and partner with leadership on disciplinary actions as appropriate.
Training, Development & Performance Management
Design and deliver training programs focused on service culture, leadership development, and regulatory compliance.
Guide department leaders through the performance review cycle, coaching, and corrective action processes.
Evaluate training needs and implement initiatives to promote continuous learning and growth.
HR Operations & Systems
Oversee payroll accuracy, HRIS data integrity, and benefits administration.
Maintain detailed employee records, administer leaves of absence, and support workers' compensation claims.
Review and update HR policies, employee handbook, and procedures regularly.
Engagement, Culture & Recognition
Lead employee engagement efforts, celebrations, recognition programs, and community involvement initiatives.
Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and accountable workplace aligned with Autograph Collection's unique service style.
Identify opportunities to strengthen culture, reduce turnover, and enhance team morale.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Hospitality Management, or related field; HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SCP) preferred.
2-5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a hotel leadership role.
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, Union Laws and hospitality operations.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (ADP, Workday, or similar).
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
