Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Audits litigated and non-litigated claims, including Bodily Injury, Auto Physical Damage (APD) and Cargo claims.
- Works with leadership on establishing metrics and reporting on results
- Expected audit of 2 claims a month per claim handler
- Experienced with auditing and technical front-line claims handling/management
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful claim outcomes.
- Mentors less experience co-workers to develop their understanding of procedures, state laws, and help others improve their claims handling ability.
- Ability to back-stop claims leadership in a temporary capacity.
- Training lead for new hires.
- Assist with carrier renewals and audits.
- Manage closed file processes around deductible recovery and salvage
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school Diploma or equivalent is required; College degree preferred
- 10+ years in Heavy Commercial Auto/ Bodily Injury claims handling or a similar role.
- Experience with APD and Cargo claims is a huge plus, a mix of both carrier and TPA experience is acceptable
- Exposure to litigated claims, and current industry standards around multi state good faith claims practices is essential.
- Must hold an active adjuster license, multi-jurisdictional a plus.
- Strong understanding of commercial auto/trucking insurance and claims litigation principles.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work are required.
- Analytical thinking skills are needed to properly evaluate complex claims
- A strong attention to detail is necessary as claims adjusters must carefully review documents and policies
- Good verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills are required, experience with negotiations, knowledge of the litigation process is preferred but not required.
- Basic computer skills or the ability to quickly learn new software are required
- A strong work ethic and time management skills is needed, to efficiently handle a caseload ranging from minor to complex claims
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with clients and claimants is needed; including the potential for on-site customer visits
- Ability to calculate figures is required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain professionalism in challenging situations while providing top tier service to customers and business partners.

The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
