Compliance & Quality Specialist

This position is for a Compliance & Quality Specialist for the Central Office.

Basic Purpose

Reports directly to the Director of Clinical Operations to ensure system-wide clinical compliance, quality, and survey readiness initiatives, ensuring timely communication, documentation, and corrective follow up across all ODVA Veterans Homes. Serves as the primary lead for survey preparedness, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards and benchmarks that drive CMS 5-Star ratings, state licensure, and TJC accreditation. Leads and coordinates mock survey activities and follow-up validations to ensure continuous readiness, alignment, and sustainability of corrective actions.

Typical Functions

The functions performed in this job family will vary by level, unit and organization, but may include the following:

  • Lead development, implementation, and sustainability of the Corrective Action Plan (CAP) framework across all ODVA homes in direct collaboration with Director of Clinical Operations.
  • Direct and coordinate on-site training, mock survey and reviews, ensuring findings are analyzed, tracked, and validated for sustained improvement.
  • Monitor and ensure ongoing survey preparedness and verify documentation meets best practice, VA, and state regulatory standards.
  • Track survey findings, complaints, and deficiencies through standardized logs and maintain organized, validated evidence of completion.
  • Analyze compliance trends and report performance summaries to the oversight team and executive leadership.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Clinical Operations and executive leaders to verify effectiveness and sustainability of corrective actions.
  • Drive clinical compliance and quality across all ODVA State Veterans homes.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of Federal VA and State regulatory requirements, being the subject matter expert across all ODVA homes, staying abreast of all regulatory updates and revisions, on an ongoing basis. This person will also need to become a subject matter expert on CMS and Joint Commission survey standards to guide continuous improvement efforts across our organization.
  • Drive system-wide clinical policy communication, quality assurance activities, and consistent implementation of compliance-related revisions across homes.

Education and Experience

Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of possession of a valid Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; or Registered Nurse License recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities required at this level include knowledge of agency policies and procedures; of all state and federal legislation related to assigned agency programs; and of supervisory principles and practices.

Knowledge of professional nursing theory practices and techniques; of medical supplies; of sanitation and personal hygiene; of nutrition and diet therapy; of institution or school organization; and of budget, personnel and purchasing procedures. Proficiency in computer software utilized in the agency.

Special Requirements

Some positions will require that applicants be willing and able to perform all job-related travel.
