Job Description
About the Position
We’re looking for a skilled Construction Equipment Mechanic who specializes in asphalt paving and maintenance equipment. If you know your way around pavers, rollers, skid steers, tack distributors, loaders, and all the machines that keep an asphalt crew moving—we want you on our team.
Responsibilities
Diagnose, repair, and maintain asphalt construction equipment, including:
Pavers
Rollers/Compactors
Skid steers & loaders
Graders
Small tools (plate compactors, saws, etc.)
Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections.
Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
Work with the field team to minimize downtime and keep operations running efficiently.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
Requirements
3+ years experience as a heavy equipment or construction mechanic (asphalt experience preferred).
Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, engines, and electrical components.
Ability to read schematics, repair manuals, and diagnostic tools.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in outdoor environments as needed.
Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus but not required).
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
Preferred Skills
Experience with brands such as Caterpillar, LeeBoy, Dynapac, Volvo, Wacker Neuson, etc.
Welding and fabrication experience.
Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety standards.
