Job Description

A specialist healthcare service is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Male PICU ward. This is a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week.

The hospital provides comprehensive inpatient mental health services for adults and young people, with a focus on supporting patients to live their best life in a safe and therapeutic environment.

What you’ll be doing

You will join a compassionate team committed to patient wellbeing, using a personalised, evidence-based approach to support recovery.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading clinical care for patients, including psychiatric assessments, treatment planning, ward rounds, and Responsible Clinician duties under the Mental Health Act.

  • Working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred, recovery-focused care.

  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with referring trusts, community teams, families, and external stakeholders.

  • Contributing to service development through clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Participating in the non-residential on-call rota and engaging in continuous professional development to meet GMC Revalidation requirements.
