As a private equity-backed organization with strong annual revenue and a dedicated team of 250 employees, we are in a phase of rapid scaling and operational excellence.The Controller will conduct, monitor, and evaluate all day-to-day accounting activities. In addition, the Controller will establish financial status by developing and implementing systems for accurately collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information.Primary Duties include but are not limited to: (Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions.)
- Engage in all aspects of accounting operations, including transactions related to general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of necessary accounting policies and systems, including general ledger and financial reporting.
- Ensure that records are maintained accurately and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
- Assist with the annual budget process and monthly rolling forecasts.
- Analyze company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad hoc reports to senior management.
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports requested by parent company.
- Complete the year-end financial review by outside CPA firm, including all client prepared documents.
- Assist with the management of all tax planning and compliance with all required federal, state, local, payroll, property and other applicable taxes.
- Work with other departments to understand revenue and cost drivers and define appropriate reports for tracking.
- Support and develop department staff by recruiting, selecting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business required.
- Proven knowledge of accounting practices, standards, laws and regulations including generally-accepted accounting principles.
- 5+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience required.
- Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
- Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail accuracy, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Strong people skills to effectively work with degreed accountants and non-accountant staff-level employees.
- Experience in a service-based (not manufacturing) business with activity-based project costing.
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work without direct supervision and efficiently manage tasks and time.
- CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required.
- Experience in Sage Intacct preferred but not required.
- Experience working in a growing environment is strongly preferred.
