Job Description

About the role
We are looking for a Controller to serve as the company's senior accounting authority, owning accounting policy, U.S. GAAP compliance, audit leadership, and IPO readiness. This role is critical to ensuring TensorWave's financial reporting, controls, and accounting infrastructure are scalable, defensible, and public-company ready.
Responsibilities
Own and maintain company-wide accounting policies and procedures in accordance with U.S. GAAP
Serve as the technical accounting expert for complex areas including ASC 606 (revenue), ASC 842 (leases and sale-leaseback), fixed assets, stock-based compensation, and complex financing arrangements
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close oversight, including review of significant journal entries, estimates, and reserves
Act as primary point of contact for external auditors and lead all financial statement audits
Ensure audit readiness at all times, including preparation of audit schedules and resolution of audit findings
Design, implement, and maintain a strong internal control framework (SOX-ready) with appropriate segregation of duties
Lead accounting readiness for IPO, including PCAOB audits, SEC reporting support, and public-company accounting standards
Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Legal, Procurement, Supply Chain, and People Ops on accounting implications of business activities
Oversee accounting systems and ensure system configurations align with accounting policy and reporting requirements
Build, lead, and develop a high-performing accounting organization with clear standards, accountability, and documentation
Required Experience
CPA required
12+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior StartUp Experience
Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and accounting policy development
Significant audit experience, preferably with Big 4 or national public accounting firms
Proven experience leading complex audits and interacting with external auditors
Demonstrated IPO experience, including pre-IPO readiness and/or public company reporting
Strong leadership, judgment, and communication skills
Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar) in a high-growth environment
Preferred Experience
Experience in capital-intensive, infrastructure, or technology-enabled businesses
Familiarity with SOX compliance and internal audit frameworks
Experience supporting lender diligence and investor reporting
