Job Description
Position Summary:
Adams State University Campus Recreation and Wellness within the Department of Athletics- is seeking a full-time (.75 FTE) Coordinator for Fitness and Wellness. This position is responsible for collaborating with students, fitness instructors, and other campus recreation staff to develop and manage a new quality and comprehensive fitness and wellness programs. The Coordinator is responsible for the direction and management of the Rex Activity Center, Intramural Sports and wellness programming for Campus Recreation and Wellness.
Specific Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the Rex Fitness and Wellness Center
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a staff of group fitness instructors, wellness staff, work study and recreation staff
- Conduct evaluations and monitor performance of student employees
- Schedule work study students to ensure front desk converge during all hours of operation
- Develop and implement learning outcomes and conduct routine assessments of programming and student staff employees
- Assist in the management of fitness and wellness budget including day to day transactions and revenue
- Close out Credit Card machine daily and make timely deposits at the One Stop
- Maintain equipment and maintenance of Rex Center and put in work orders as needed
- Ensure health and safety and cleanliness is a top priority
- Supervise work-study students, manage work-study payments.
- Maintain professional certifications relevant to job responsibilities
- Develop and manage all aspects of the fitness program including developing and implementing a full menu of services to include, but not limited to: Group exercise, Mind and Body, Personal Training, Fitness Assessment, healthy eating, or related wellness initiatives
- Develop, market, and manage special events and initiatives to promote active healthy lifestyles
- Create and maintain collaborations with university departments and initiatives
- Utilize software for program registrations, membership management, and reporting
- Assess campus satisfaction and effectiveness of fitness programs
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support the needs of the department
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree - in sports management, recreation administration, physical education, kinesiology/exercise science, or a related field
- At least two years professional-experience managing fitness and/or wellness programs
- Professional understanding of concepts of fitness and recreational activities and health education, as well as staff and student development
- Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community. This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.
- Ability to perform the requirements of the position
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional related education and training
- Experience in Facility management
- CPR certification
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $28,809-$32,769 for .75 FTE.
