How You'll Contribute to Our Success
As the Corporate Quality Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring our company's continued success. Your expertise in navigating food safety regulations will be crucial in keeping our operations compliant and customers safe. You will develop, implement, and improve our food safety plans to maintain a sanitary, controlled environment. Your commitment to best practices will be instrumental in upholding the integrity of our production processes and product quality. Your ability to oversee quality control, ensure compliance, and maintain an efficient, safe production environment will be invaluable in helping us deliver exceptional products and maintain our industry leadership.
What You'll do as a Corporate Quality Manager
- Demonstrates unwavering commitment to Lesaffre's safety-first culture by strictly following all safety protocols and participating in required safety programs, including OSHA rules and regulations, universal/hazardous waste management, quality management systems, and all pertinent HR, environmental, and safety laws and regulations
- Interacts with and supports the sales, customer service, plants, supply chain, and regulatory functions of Lesaffre Corporation and Business Units, both domestically and internationally
- Manages the Approved Supplier Program to ensure compliance
- Oversees 3rd party manufacturing sites and purchased product quality compliance
- Develops new product quality assurance documentation
- Creates and manages raw material, product, and customer specifications
- Follows up on customer issues and inquiries, leading investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions
- Maintains the Food Safety programs and ensures compliance with BRC audit standards
- Manages applicable quality assurance trainings and serves as the PCQI leader
- Conducts quality reporting and follow-up
- Responsible for experiment design of process studies, new methods, and new products
- Maintains a high level of industry knowledge related to new technology, methods, equipment, BRC, and FSMA
- Actively participates in technical meetings
- Responsible for the department's expense budget, managing cost and resource efficiency
- Motivates staff to support the goals of the business through performance management
- Supports the Foreign Supplier Verification Program by conducting production risk assessments on products imported by Lesaffre Corporation
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Baking Science, Microbiology, Chemistry or related degree
- 5 or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of general food safety and laboratory practices
- Must be proficient with Microsoft suite programs; knowledge and understanding of an ERP system is required
- Experience managing and developing a team in the food processing industry
- PCQI Certification required; ability to be CPR/First Aid certified
- Ability to work onsite in Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Cedar Rapids, Iowa
- Ability to travel 20%; mostly domestic but occasionally international
Preferred qualifications:
- Previous baking experience is helpful
- SAP experience is highly desired
