Counsel, Product & Platform Compliance

Location: Chicago or New York City

We're looking for an experienced product counsel with 5+ years of legal experience, preferably with 3+ years in-house. You will work closely with Reddit's consumer product and engineering teams to provide legal guidance on a wide range of legal issues, including intermediary liability, information access, privacy, and content safety. A successful candidate will be passionate about collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to solve complex legal problems, and working at the cutting edge of law and technology.

What You'll Do:

• Advise Reddit's consumer product teams through all stages of product development on how to navigate potential legal risks.
• Analyze new and existing regulations that are relevant to Reddit's consumer products, and work with product teams to translate legal requirements into product requirements and implement those requirements.
• Serve as a strategic partner to help product and business teams anticipate and plan for future regulatory requirements.
• Develop strong cross-functional relationships and deep product and industry knowledge.

What We're Looking For:

• Law degree (JD, LLB, LLM, etc.). You are licensed in the United States, and ideally you have legal experience in multiple jurisdictions.
• 5+ years of legal experience, with 3+ years of in-house experience at a consumer tech company.
• Global experience working on B2C search, publisher and/or user generated content issues.
• Strong background advising platform compliance with global laws and regulations, including the EU Digital Services Act.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including cross-translation of complex legal and technical concepts to both legal and non-legal audiences.
• Excellent judgment and analytical skills.
• Ability to assess risk strategically and help clients manage risk while achieving their goals.
• Program/project management skills, including the ability to handle and prioritize high impact and complex multiple projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams.
