Job Description

Cassia, a nonprofit, senior living organization, has a rare opportunity for a Culinary Float to join our team and float between 4 different cities. You will be floating between Buffalo MN, Dassel MN, Maple Plain MN, and Plymouth MN. This is a great opportunity to continue growing your career while sharing your expertise at multiple locations.

As a Culinary Float, you will provide a full-scope, hands-on cooking preparation and production of high-quality culinary dishes to our residents and guests in a timely manner. You will bring your expertise to our 5 locations and help ensure that culinary standards are maintained.

Position Type: Full-Time, benefits eligible position working a varying schedule including 4 weekend days a month

Wage Range: $28 - $30 /hour depending on experience

Park View Care Center: 200 Park Ln, Buffalo, MN 55313

Lake Ridge Care Center: 310 Lake Blvd S, Buffalo, MN 55313

Haven Homes: 4848 Gateway Blvd, Maple Plain, MN 55359

Lakeside Generations: 439 William Avenue East, Dassel MN 55325

Cornerstone: 3750 Lawndale Ln N, Plymouth MN, 55446

Culinary Float Responsibilities:

  • Floats between MN Cassia Communities filling in for open chef and culinary positions; shifts and schedule will vary week-to-week and may require last minute changes based on emergency culinary needs

Prepare & Serve Meals

  • Prepares recipes utilizing appropriate ingredients to ensure a fine dining experience for residents and guests
  • Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards at all times
  • Meets organizational and regulatory expectations, including sanitation, food preparation, menus, nutrition, and documentation

Support Team Members

  • Participates directly in daily kitchen operations in multiple communities: cooking, serving and cleaning under the direction of the Director of Culinary Services
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Maintain Food Safety & Sanitation Standards

  • Strictly adheres to safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Knowledge of special diets provided and served correctly per our Policy and Procedure
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for emergency operating procedures and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the kitchen and dining areas

Culinary Float Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of commercial cooking experience in a restaurant/ senior living or equivalent cooking experience required!
  • Certificate from an accredited culinary arts school preferred.
  • Valid Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) Certificate or ability to pass course once employed.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with residents and staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
