Location: Holy Cross Hospital
Position Purpose:
Join the Med/Surg Oncology team at Holy Cross Health-a 30-bed unit that provides compassionate, specialized care to patients undergoing cancer treatment, recovering from surgery, managing complex medical conditions, or receiving hospice care. As a Secretary/Unit Clerk, you'll play a key role in ensuring smooth unit operations by supporting clinical staff, maintaining clear communication, and helping create a welcoming, efficient environment for patients and families.
What You Will Do:
- Greet and assist patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner
- Operate communication systems, including phones and call lights
- Schedule diagnostics, therapies, and transport as directed by clinical staff
- Maintain and update the nurse's station whiteboard and patient data
- Accurately enter patient transfers and discharges within established timeframes
- Participate in shift handoffs and provide clerical support to nursing staff
- Support limited clinical tasks as directed and assist in maintaining a safe, clean unit environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a unit secretary, health unit coordinator, administrative partner, or CNA
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Certificate in medical secretary training preferred
- Ability to distinguish colors and maintain visual/auditory acuity

Pay Range-$17.58 - $22.71
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
