POSITION SUMMARY:
The MPLX Gulf Coast NGL Project team is seeking a dynamic, collaborative individual to serve as a Safety Professional in Texas City, TX. This individual will ensure safety excellence across the Project, with primary oversight of the Marine Export Dock.
The Gulf Coast NGL Project includes a fractionator complex, LPG export terminal, and associated pipeline expansions as reported in the linked MPLX news release.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Provide technical safety oversight for demolition, barge-based construction, crane and rigging operations, and heavy equipment use on-water and water-adjacent environments, assuring full compliance with regulatory requirements and MPC/MPLX standards.
- Develop and support Project ES&S standard practices and programs that are fit for purpose
- Develop ES&S training material and communications in partnership with ES&S and Project Management leadership
- Oversee contractor safety management for the Project, ensuring collaboration, oversight, and alignment between business partners and MPC/MPLX
- Conduct audits and analyze safety performance, identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to address areas of concern
- Lead and support investigations of incidents and near-misses, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement
- Support OSHA recordkeeping and ES&S metrics reporting
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor's degree preferred in occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline with 4 years of relevant experience, OR 6 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910
- Microsoft Office proficiency
- Valid Driver's License required
- Ability to obtain TWIC
- Excellent written and oral communication, organization, planning, facilitation, collaboration, and influence skills required.
PREFERRED QUALFICATIONS:
- Experience with Crane and Lifting operations
- CSP Certification
- Knowledge of OSHA 1917, dock work and USCG regulations
