Job Description
CLINICAL PHARMACY ASSISTANT
The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant assists the Clinical Pharmacist in the day to day comprehensive, customer-oriented clinical pharmacy services provided by PACE Southeast Michigan. The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant works in collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist and reports to the Clinical Pharmacy Manager of PACE Southeast Michigan. The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant must be able to exercise a high level of professionalism in interdisciplinary communication, maintain attention detail with high-quality product, and demonstrate dedication to continuous process improvement. He/she assists the Clinical Pharmacist and interdisciplinary team in identifying and resolving drug-related problems for participants in a fast-paced clinical environment. In addition, the Clinical Pharmacy Assistant works closely with the corresponding operational pharmacy facility to help ensure accuracy and avoid gaps in care. The Clinical Pharmacy Assistant participates in advocating for pharmacy services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Integrated teamwork with the Enrollment team for medication reconciliation, running MAPS reports, and on-boarding new participants.
- Supporting Fraud, Waste and Abuse efforts by preparing detailed enrollment grids for new participants and communicating with the dispensing pharmacy.
- Supporting Fraud, Waste and Abuse efforts by preparing accurate medical utilization updates and communicating with the Clinical Pharmacist, interdisciplinary team, and dispensing pharmacy.
- Reconciling allergies and immunizations and updating pharmacy demographics for all participants.
- Prepare initial and annual Comprehensive Medication Review packets using a set of clinical criteria and communicating with the Clinical Pharmacist.
- Reviewing, executing, and communicating in collaboration with the Clinical Pharmacist on all refill requests from the dispensing pharmacy.
- Communicating with skilled nursing facilities for medication administration records and reports as assigned.
- Attending weekly huddles and meetings as assigned.
- Projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Current Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license with the State of Michigan, preferred.
- Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) considered.
- Current CPR card required.
- Previous experience of at least 6 months preferred.
- Proficient computer (Outlook, Word, and Excel) and typing skills.
- Ability to operate a calculator and use intermediate math skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly both in-person and over the phone.
- Ability to work effectively with others.
- Ability to multitask, to manage several different projects at once and ensure that everything gets completed in a timely manner.
- Pay close attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
