Job Description
Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay is seeking hospice volunteers for Westminster Canterbury At Home.
This is a volunteer position and is not compensated. Volunteers work with patients as assigned by the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteer opportunities include assisting with homemaker chores, running errands, providing respite care, participating in volunteer support groups and educational in-services, maintaining open communication about the patient's status, and providing feedback to the Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteers also interact with hospice patients respectfully and implement special projects to address the needs of patients and family caregivers as directed by the Coordinator.
To qualify, volunteers need excellent verbal communication skills, particularly with the elderly, access to transportation, a background check, and a supportive attitude toward the hospice concept. Volunteers should also be comfortable with personal spirituality and willing to serve others.
Westminster Canterbury At Home offers personalized Home Health Care, Home Care, and Hospice services in private home settings throughout Virginia Beach and surrounding areas.
Locations include Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Virginia Beach, with services provided in retirement homes or private residences.
