Job Description
In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:
Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
Federal Work Study student may apply.
In good disciplinary standing.
Must be located in the U.S.

Aspire: Five Week Intensive requires accompanists on piano, bass, guitar, and drums. These accompanists will be hired as the "house band" to work in varied ensembles. Also available are positions in ensembles performing on other instruments depending on the needs of program directors. The ensembles run from July 8, 2025 till August 8, 2025.This job requires federal work-study eligibility and U.S. domestic status.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Attend weekly ensemble rehearsals, learn songs and specific arrangements as needed, participate in the end-of-program concert.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
All accompanists must be able to sight-read lead sheets and rhythm section charts that have time slashes, chord progressions and additional rhythmic figures. Candidates must also be reliable, patient, cooperative and be open to taking direction or critique from the instructors/students. The students are prospective undergraduate students at Berklee and we expect them to be treated as you would other members of the community. Seeking both upright and/or electric bassists.
What to expect in the ensemble?
You will be playing with a rhythm section, and the material will cover a wide variety of styles including, but not limited to pop, rock, jazz, Latin, country, R&B, and funk. At the end of the program you are expected to perform a short concert with the ensemble you have been working with. The concert date and time will be announced during your first rehearsal with the ensemble.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
Ensemble ratings of 4 or above preferred.
Good sight reading skills, understanding of the musical style your ensemble requires: jazz, pop, rock, funk-fusion, or R&B.
