Job Description
The Archdiocese of Washington is seeking a Development/Administrative Coordinator for the Catholic Student Center.
The Development Coordinator is responsible for promoting the mission and vision of the Catholic Student Center on the University of Maryland-College Park campus and to the community at large including alumni, staff, faculty, parishes, families, and other related entities, in addition to maintaining the administrative oversight of the financial support from donors. Additionally, as the Administration Coordinator, responsibilities include assisting the chaplain in the general operations of the CSC as pertains to physical plant, financial accountability, and most non-programmatic activities.
Development Coordinator (80%)
- Maintain and increase the current donor database and fundraising practices.
- Find, meet, and follow up with supporters and alumni of the Catholic Student Center through one-on-one engagements or other events that best serve the development plan for the CSC.
- Work with events and activities such as promotions and fundraising that assist with the promotion of the Catholic Student Center along with student leaders who are part of the Stewardship Branch of the Catholic Terp executive board.
- Raise awareness and support for the ongoing needs, mission, and vision of the Catholic Student Center.
- Assist the chaplain in the planning of the financial vision of the Catholic Student Center.
- Maintaining the donor database: tracking all donations, updating information etc.
- Generate and implement annual mailings/touches (hard copy, digital, social media) per the development goals (7+ per year)
- Processing mail merge communications
- Planning and execution of donor events that are part of the Catholic Terps program
- Meet with potential donors inviting them to partner with the CSC
- Follow up with current donors to maintain sustainability and relationships.
- Hold weekly meetings with Chaplain, Campus Ministers, and other development team members.
Administrative Coordinator (20%)
Work with the chaplain and staff to maintain the operations of the Catholic Student Center to include billing, facility needs, contracts, financial oversight, and other duties such as:
- Work directly with the Chaplain, accountant, staff, interns and students to take care of the overall needs of the Catholic Student Center.
- Work with the accountant in maintaining and paying bills.
- Work with the accountant and development staff on tracking income and deposits.
- Process cash/check deposits directly with the bank.
- Collaboration with staff members on filing system management.
- Act as first point of contact for vendors and facility repair or maintenance needs.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing
- Has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the teachings of the Catholic Church and its traditions.
- Has a personal prayer life.
- Able to develop and implement programming that meets needs of the financial support for and consistent with the mission of Catholic Student Center
- Able to find, meet, and follow up with supporters.
- Open to opportunities to learn more about the best practices for development.
- Must be personable and possess a general knowledge of the CSC.
- Ability to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere while providing warm hospitality to callers and visitors as needed.
- Must be reliable, organized as well as a good time manager.
- Able to maintain discretion in confidential matters.
- Must be a highly effective team member with strong ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and others.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Master's degree/certification in administration, fundraising or related fields greatly preferred.
- Two years related administrative experience; or combination of education, training, and experience.
- Two years of fundraising experience preferred or equivalent in experience.
- Relevant data entry/analysis skills or willing to learn.
- Must be comfortable with using computers, internet, and varying application systems.
- Must have experience in Excel, Word, and mail merge processes.
- Must have experience in finance software (Parish Soft preferred or similar) or willingness to learn it.
- Must have experience in donor database software (eTapestry preferred, or similar) or willing to learn it.
- Knowledgeable of social networking tools
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Regular full-time employee (40 hours/week) Some evening and weekend hours are to be expected as a part of this role.
This position reports to the Chaplain and the salary range is $56,000 to $65,000 with outstanding benefits
