Job Description

Part-Time Heavy Equipment Operator / Truck Driver (28 Hours/Week) – BYU Grounds & Fleet Team

Brigham Young University (BYU) is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator/Truck Driver to support campus operations. This is a part-time position (28 hours/week) ideal for individuals with experience driving commercial vehicles and operating heavy equipment.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in hauling materials, supporting campus projects, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to snow removal operations—all while working in a team-oriented environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Safely operate heavy equipment (forklifts, loaders, skid steers, track hoes, etc.)

  • Drive and manage hook trucks and related vehicles

  • Transport materials to and from campus or construction sites

  • Load/unload materials and track them for reporting and payment

  • Deliver/pick up roll-off bins at temporary construction sites

  • Maintain equipment and report any safety or mechanical issues

  • Complete tasks assigned by supervisors efficiently and accurately

  • Accurately track loads and fill out daily timecards

  • Participate in on-call snow removal, clearing sidewalks, stairs, roads, parking lots, and more in a safe, non-destructive manner

What You’ll Need:

  • A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

  • Experience operating heavy machinery and trucks

  • Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and attention to detail
