Job Description

POSITION TITLE:        Data Reporting SpecialistREPORTS TO:                Data Systems & Analytics ManagerWORKSITE:                   Omaha, NebraskaCOMPENSATION:
  • Hourly rate of $23.00 – $29.00/hour, commensurate with experience (equivalent to $48,000 – $60,000 annually)

ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:In 2022, Immigrant Legal Center and Refugee Empowerment Center merged, and the combined nonprofit organization is now CIRA, the Center for Immigrant & Refugee Advancement. Our diverse team of experts provides exceptional, compassionate legal representation, refugee services, and social work services.We take on the most complex immigration cases, resettle refugees from around the world, and ensure all clients have access to much-needed resources. Operating in 6 different offices from Council Bluffs to Scottsbluff, our team of more than 100 full-time employees helps communities’ welcome immigrants and refugees as they build their lives here. We assist with all forms of family and humanitarian-based immigration, and we never turn any family away due to inability to pay.POSITION DESCRIPTION:Reporting to the Data Systems & Analytics Manager, the Reporting & Analytics Specialist supports CIRA's data-driven decision making across all programs and departments. This entry-level position serves as the primary point of contact for routine reporting requests, ensuring accurate and timely data reaches staff and stakeholders who need it most. The Specialist maintains and updates existing dashboards and analytics tools, conducts foundational analysis to answer operational questions, and collaborates with teams across the organization to translate data into actionable insights.We are seeking someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to help strengthen our organization's capacity to serve immigrants, refugees, and newcomers through better data practices.CORE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:Reporting & Analytics Support
  • Run recurring and ad hoc reports using established templates and dashboards
  • Structure queries and reports using logical operators (e.g., IF/THEN conditions) to meet varied request needs
  • Pull, export, and merge data from multiple systems; clean and prepare Excel datasets for staff use
  • Interpret internal processes to ensure reports accurately reflect service delivery and tracking
  • Identify anomalies, gaps, or inconsistencies and flag them for review
  • Build clear visualizations and summaries (counts, percentages, trends) to support program needs and operational decisions
  • Manage and maintain internal dashboards, ensuring they are accurate, timely, and actionable
  • Monitor and refresh dashboards, scorecards, and tracking tools
  • Serve as main support for data updates related to client deliverables, including recurring reports and dashboards
Systems Maintenance
  • Assist with routine maintenance and updates of internal dashboards and reporting templates to ensure tools and documentation remain accurate and aligned with program needs
  • Test and implement small updates to reporting systems, dashboards, and templates with oversight from the Data Systems and Analytics Manager
  • Track and log reporting requests, ensuring timely follow-up
  • Follow established protocols for secure data handling and storage
  • Support maintenance and updates of standardized processes to streamline our agency's data offerings
Stakeholder Support
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff with reporting and basic analytics questions
  • Provide brief training or guidance on using dashboards and reports
  • Escalate complex analytics or system issues to the Manager
  • Support implementation of automated forms and data collection tools
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in data analytics, information systems, public administration, social sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, advanced formulas, VLOOKUP/index-match, conditional logic); familiarity with SQL, DAX, or similar query languages preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to data accuracy and quality assurance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain data trends and technical concepts in clear, accessible language
  • Interest in data storytelling and turning insights into actionable outcomes
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and processes in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to think creatively to address data and reporting challenges
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work across departments and varying technical skill levels

  • Ability to provide professional services effectively to clients and colleagues from various backgrounds
  • Proficiency in Office 365 applications and ability to learn new data management software
  • Demonstrates reliability through consistent attendance, effective time management, and flexibility
  • Ability to pass all required background checks
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • This job consists of regularly sitting at a desk and using a computer and phone
  • Workdays pertain to a Monday – Friday schedule, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
