Vice President of Marketing

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Department: Marketing
Reports to: Chief Strategy Officer

About Ternus

Ternus is a mission-driven private lending company transforming the lending landscape by combining responsible credit practices, customer-centric technology, and a culture of servant leadership. We operate with transparency, ethics, and deep industry expertise, committed to building financial products that empower our partners and clients.

Role Overview

The Vice President of Marketing at Ternus will lead all aspects of marketing strategy and execution—across brand, growth, communications, and product marketing. You will be a key member of the executive team, responsible for crafting a cohesive and compelling market presence, scaling acquisition channels, and building a marketing organization that balances strategic vision with measurable outcomes.

This is a rare opportunity to create a modern, data-driven marketing organization from scratch while directly influencing the next phase of growth at a fast-scaling fintech firm.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and own the comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with Ternus’ growth objectives, brand values, and customer journey.
  • Partner with Product, Sales, and Operations leadership to ensure marketing initiatives drive business goals, especially customer acquisition and brand trust.
  • Represent the voice of the customer and market in strategic decisions.

Brand & Communications

  • Define and evolve the Ternus brand to reflect trust, integrity, and innovation in lending.
  • Oversee content strategy, PR, and internal communications to establish Ternus as a thought leader in the fintech and credit markets.
  • Manage agency and media relationships to ensure consistency and excellence.

Growth & Performance Marketing

  • Own acquisition and conversion funnel metrics—developing high-performing campaigns across digital, SEO, paid media, events, and partnerships.
  • Lead demand generation and lifecycle marketing efforts for both B2B and B2B2C initiatives.
  • Implement attribution models and marketing analytics to measure and optimize ROI.

Team Development & Budget Management

  • Build, lead, and mentor a cross-functional marketing team (brand, performance, content, design).
  • Manage marketing budgets, ensuring efficiency and alignment with company-wide priorities.
  • Foster a results-driven, collaborative, and values-aligned culture.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience, preferably in fintech, lending, or B2B financial services.
  • Proven success scaling marketing teams and strategies in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Deep understanding of marketing performance metrics, customer segmentation, and integrated campaign execution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable representing the company externally.
  • Strong leadership, humility, and a builder’s mindset—aligned with Ternus’ values of integrity, servant leadership, and doing the right thing.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working with lending platforms, credit products, or financial compliance teams.
  • Track record in both brand-building and revenue-driving roles.
  • Strong understanding of customer experience and how marketing influences cross-functional outcomes.
