Operations Control Tech 1- ST. Maries, ID

PotlatchDeltic, St. Maries Complex, has an opening for an Operations Controls Tech 1 in our Lumber mill. This position has hybrid responsibilities between IT and mill electricians. This position will allow both IT and mill electricians to focus on their primary responsibilities while having a resource that is fluent in both fields. As technology advances in new equipment, and in trending/tuning existing equipment, this position will greatly enhance run ability of the mill by having the opportunity to commit to dissecting process automation without the need to balance priorities between uptime and efficiency.

The hourly rate for this position is $37.81.

Modify Control Systems & Software

• Work with local IT to manage network systems for all process and business systems.

• Upgrade software as needed to the latest versions compatible with machine centers.

• Perform Hardware / Software maintenance tasks

Project/Research & Design

• Install interface computers for PLC and HMI systems. Upgrade equipment as needed.

• Assist in installation of larger process control systems.

Assist Mill Personnel & Training

• Gather, correlate, and analyze data and write reports from any software compiling data for mill personnel to make business decisions.

• Assist in implementation of Predictive Maintenance, and Downtime Tracking, Data Collection and monitoring of critical machines to improve machine efficiency and reduce downtime.

• Clearly present information in an understandable format to many levels of expertise to visualize a uniform goal.

Maintain Scanning & Optimization Hardware & Software

• Keep Computers and other systems refreshed with latest version of software and hardware components.

• Make / Maintain regular backups of software and configurations.

• Basic Computer, Network, and Controls System Troubleshooting.

Working Conditions

• Office and industrial environment.

• Temperature extremes, dust, noise, heat, ice, and snow.

• Occasional work with hazardous materials.

• Personal protective equipment required.

Essential Physical Functions

• Use of stationary ladders and use of catwalks and working above ground on equipment and in confined spaces.

• Lifting 40 pounds on regular basis and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds without help.

• Mental/physical fatigue from computer use.

Requirements

• Intermediate to advanced computer skills required. Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting software preferred

• Must have intermediate skills in programming and upgrading hardware and software.

• Must have intermediate skills in Excel, Structured Query Language (SQL), Word, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project remote management tools etc.

• Must have intermediate knowledge of computer LAN and WAN networks (Allen Bradley or Cisco preferred)

• Must have knowledge in the installation of both copper and fiber optic cabling
