Overview:
Sentara Health is seeking a Medical Director, to lead its Heart Failure Program. This program includes advanced heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation.
Based at Sentara Heart Hospital, on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and with satellite locations throughout the region, the AHF clinic conducts 10,000 patient visits annually. Sentara Heart Hospital is a destination medical center nationally recognized for offering quality, comprehensive heart care from advance diagnostics and imaging to minimally invasive heart procedures, heart surgery and heart transplants.
The Hybrid Cardiac Operating Suite, located at the nationally ranked Sentara Heart Hospital, is a regions first operating room to combine the best medical expertise of Sentara Heart cardiothoracic surgeons, electrophysiologists and interventional cardiologists with the most advanced heart technology available.
Position Highlights:
AHFT program includes five transplant cardiologists and four heart transplant/VAD surgeons
State of the art dedicated heart hospital
5 catheterization laboratories, 5 cardiac operating rooms, a Hybrid Operating room, and 4 Electrophysiology laboratories
Cardiac Advanced Imaging Center provides both Cardiac CT and MR studies

Minimum Requirements:
M.D. or D.O, licensed to practice in Virginia and board certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology
Minimum 3 years of leadership experience, excellent clinical and technical skills, and take a collaborative approach to patient care.
Proficient in performing heart transplant surgeries and actively engaged in comprehensive transplant patient care
