Position Summary:
The Senior Project Engineer manages EPC contracting activities across a high volume of fast-paced EV charging infrastructure projects. The role bridges Development Engineering, Utility Integration, and Deployment teams, with a strong emphasis on data-driven project controls, cost tracking, and portfolio visibility.
This position requires advanced skills in Sitetracker (or equivalent project management systems), Excel, and other analytical platforms to develop internal tools, generate actionable reporting, and drive continuous process improvements. The Senior Project Engineer ensures project scopes are accurate, contractor bids are thoroughly evaluated, and execution risks are mitigated through proactive data analysis.
Remote position with up to 20% travel. .
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and manage construction RFPs using EVgo's centralized system.
- Align RFP scopes with engineering, utility, and public funding requirements.
- Analyze contractor bids for technical accuracy, schedule impact, and cost efficiency.
- Track RFIs, change orders, and maintain version-controlled documentation.
- Maintain and improve project tracking within Sitetracker, ensuring data quality and real-time status updates across the portfolio.
- Develop and automate internal tools, templates, and dashboards using Excel (advanced), Sitetracker, and Tableau to improve forecasting and cost tracking.
- Perform variance analysis and cost trending to ensure budgets remain aligned with current project status.
- Use large datasets to identify risk indicators, process inefficiencies, or resourcing issues and propose actionable improvements.
- Support integration of data across ERP systems to streamline reporting, reduce manual work, and improve transparency.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across engineering, finance, and construction management to align on KPIs and reporting cadence.
Required Skills and Experience:
- BS or MS in Engineering (Electrical preferred); PE license preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in engineering or construction management, preferably within EPC or infrastructure-focused environments.
- Proficiency with Sitetracker or equivalent project/portfolio management systems.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, conditional logic, data modeling, VBA or macros).
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools for dash-boarding and reporting.
- Strong understanding of RFP methodologies, estimating, and construction cost structures.
- Familiarity with utility coordination, electrical distribution systems, and permitting workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to use data to inform decision-making and improve project outcomes.
- Self-directed and capable of managing priorities across a high volume of concurrent projects.
- Experience influencing cross-functional teams through technical and data-driven insights.
For job positions in CA, CO, and NYC, the estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is $140,000 USD to $150,000 USD. Actual salary may vary depending on job-related factors, which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition to a competitive base salary, discretionary target cash bonus, and restricted stock units (subject to Board Approval).
