Job Description
The Dental Assistant will have the responsibility for assisting the Dentist. The Dental Assistant reports to the supervising Dentist and Dental Office Manager.
This position will work at our West Modesto Dental Clinic.
Schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:45am- 4:30pm
Compensation: $21.95 - $23.05 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrates effective communication and problem-solving skills.
- Prepare tray and sterilize instrument set-ups.
- Pass and receive instruments.
- Mix cements, amalgam and impression materials.
- Oral evacuation and retraction.
- Seat, prepare, and dismiss patients.
- Receive/place telephone calls, when receptionist not available.
- Appointment control.
- Inventory control.
- Routine maintenance of equipment.
- Operatory preparation and clean-up.
- Oral hygiene instruction.
- Records Management.
- Take blood pressure; take oral temperature.
- Develop and trim diagnostic casts.
- Pour and trim diagnostic casts.
- Fabricate custom trays.
- Take x-rays, develop and mount.
- Other duties and/or special projects as required.
Min. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE: Dental office procedures and terminology.
SKILLS: Current California Registered Dental Assistant Licensure. X-Ray Licensure.
ABILITY TO: Perform dental offices procedures as assigned.
Physical Demands
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels). Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, and speak clearly in order to communicate information to clients and staff. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must have high manual texterity. Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouching, reaching, kneeling, twisting/turning, fingering and feeling.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually average.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Current Dental Assistant Certificate
- X-Ray License
- Dental office procedures and terminology
- GED or High school graduate
- Clerical and computer skills
