Job Description

Job Title:                   Design EngineerClassification:       ExemptDepartment:           Product DevelopmentReports to:               Mgr., Product Development       Position Summary:The Design Engineer supports Kobelco product design by developing conceptual and final design solutions, coordinating project activities, and supporting existing product offerings.Key Responsibilities:
  • Design aluminum components for automotive suspension systems (e.g., control arms, knuckles, links).
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis and reporting.
  • Create 3D models and 2D drawings per standards.
  • Evaluate customer design proposals and specifications for feasibility and cost.
  • Manage product design from concept through production.
  • Develop project schedules to meet customer expectations.
  • Travel for design reviews, customer meetings, and support Kobelco Sales and Manufacturing.
  • Serve as product design liaison with internal and external customers.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time management.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (CATIA, NX).
  • Experience with simulation software (Abaqus, Forge NXT).
  • Capable of working independently.
Education & Experience:
  • 4-year Engineering degree.
  • Prior experience working in a Japanese-owned company is a bonus.
  • Experience in 3D CAD is required.
  • Experience in automotive sector is preferred.
  • General knowledge of automotive components and terminology preferred.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional physical activity such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, vision tasks, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
