Compliance at Brex
The Compliance team helps the company grow responsibly, advocating for Brex and for the tens of thousands of growing businesses we serve. We own the compliance policies for Brex, provide strategic advice and guidance to all Brex teams, protect Brex from financial crime and other compliance risks, and represent the company externally on key regulatory and policy issues. What you'll do
As a Financial Crimes Compliance Manager at Brex, you will support the operations and procedures of our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Program. This position is responsible for supporting the performance and effectiveness of the AML program. In this role, you will help own critical functions to include sanction screening and transaction monitoring system tuning and testing, quality testing, audit engagement, training and policy governance.
Where you'll work
This role will be based in our Salt Lake City office. You must be willing to work in the office at least two days per week on Wednesday and Thursday, starting the week of January 6th, 2025. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to four weeks per year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procedures which guide the tuning and testing for Brex's transaction monitoring and sanction screening systems
- Oversee all relevant Financial Crimes Compliance policies and procedures to include conducting gap analysis against relevant audit and regulatory findings
- Manage engagement with audit and external regulators, preparing detailed management action plans and ensuring timely remediations
- Support core compliance operations such as sanctions screening, third-party payment processing, and transaction monitoring
- Serve as a subject matter expert on AML and sanctions, providing guidance to internal teams and promoting a strong culture of compliance across the organization
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Legal, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure appropriate risk management practices are established and maintained
- Contribute to the ongoing development of financial crime risk assessments, policies, internal controls, and executive-level reporting in response to audits and feedback from partners
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in BSA/AML compliance, including investigations and SAR filing.
- Strong knowledge of AML regulations (USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC, FinCEN), transaction monitoring and sanction screening systems
- Proven ability to execute in fast-paced, startup environments with a hands-on approach.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across internal teams and external partners.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management abilities.
Bonus Points
- Prior experience working in a compliance organization on either side of Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) partnerships.
- Prior experience managing and/or implementing workflow tools.
- CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) certification or equivalent.
Compensation
The expected salary range for this role is $105,000-$120,000. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate's location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity. Depending on the position offered, equity and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
