Job Description
Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company's R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding professionals in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a strategic and technically strong Accounting Manager to serve as a key contributor to the Accounting Operations team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, this individual will lead initiatives that drive operational excellence and scalability across close processes, compliance activities, and financial systems integration. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced public biotech environment and brings deep accounting expertise, strong cross-functional leadership, and a process improvement mindset.
This is an individual contributor role expected to lead enterprise-facing workstreams, mentor peers, and serve as a subject matter expert in accounting operations, SEC compliance, and internal controls.
Responsibilities include:
Accounting Operations Leadership
Drive the month-end and quarter-end close process through ownership of high-impact journal entries (e.g., R&D accruals, stock compensation, investments, depreciation), while improving speed and accuracy.
Lead enterprise-wide accounting initiatives including financial system enhancements (e.g., NetSuite workflows, automation), new accounting process implementations, and operational readiness for product launch.
Compliance & Controls Oversight
Serve as the subject matter expert for U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance. Partner with internal stakeholders to assess implications and drive adoption of new accounting standards.
Develop and implement scalable internal control frameworks, including documentation and testing strategies to enhance audit readiness and compliance integrity.
Cross-Functional Business Partnering
Collaborate across R&D and G&A functions to ensure accuracy of financial data and completeness of accruals and operational expenses.
Lead coordination efforts with external auditors and provide strategic guidance to ensure timely and clean audit outcomes.
Reporting, Analysis & Strategic Impact
Perform detailed flux analysis, trend reporting, and executive-ready reporting packages to support financial reporting and decision-making.
Evaluate complex accounting issues and propose solutions with both operational and long-term strategic impact.
Leadership & Mentorship
Serve as an accounting thought partner across the business, providing coaching to junior team members and driving alignment with best practices.
Function as a culture ambassador, modeling RevMed's values in daily operations and leading with integrity and accountability.
Required Skills, Experience and Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
6+ years of progressive experience in accounting, including a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and industry experience in a high-growth public company environment.
Strong technical expertise in US GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
Demonstrated experience leading financial system/process implementations (e.g., NetSuite, Coupa).
Exceptional organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a history of influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
CPA
Familiarity with R&D and operational accruals.
Experience working in a fast-scaling, public company finance organization.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000 to $160,000 for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA. The range displayed on each job posting is intended to be the salary for an individual working onsite in Redwood City and will be adjusted for the local market a candidate is based in. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, market dynamics, and relevant education or training.
Please note that base salary is one part of the overall total rewards program at RevMed, which includes competitive cash compensation, robust equity awards, strong benefits, and significant learning and development opportunities.
