Role Overview

The Digital Payments Specialist supports the execution and evolution of payment-related programs to reduce processing costs-especially credit card swipe fees, which are a major expense. The role combines analytical rigor with creative problem-solving, managing daily operations, vendor relationships, and strategic initiatives.

Key Objectives

Cost Reduction: Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through vendor optimization and data analysis.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between internal teams and vendors (e.g., Visa, Mastercard).

Data Reporting: Analyze payment data and dashboards to inform leadership decisions.

Strategic Research: Evaluate third-party partnerships and industry trends.

Payments Knowledge Development: Build foundational understanding through internal training.

Program Optimization: Enhance payment programs and support continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities

Daily Operations: Manage ATM, gift card, and other payment programs; resolve field inquiries; track issues.

Vendor Engagement: Facilitate communication and alignment between internal teams and external partners.

Data Analysis: Monitor dashboards (e.g., Cost of Payments, Debit Routing); summarize insights.

Market Research: Use frameworks (Desirability, Feasibility, Viability) to assess partnerships and trends.

Internal Enablement: Complete training (e.g., Payments 101) and educate teams on payment concepts.

Program Enhancements: Identify inefficiencies and support implementation of improvements.

General Support: Adapt to evolving needs and contribute to strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

Skills: Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, and data handling.

Tools: Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and other reporting platforms.

Mindset: Analytical, curious, and innovative with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience.

2-4 years in payments, financial services, operations, or product development.

Preferred: Familiarity with payment systems and card networks; foundational knowledge can be built internally.
