The Director, Tech Agile Product Management is a strategic technology leadership role responsible for building and scaling a high-performing team of Technical Product Managers and Agile Coaches. This role defines and drives the technology product strategy, grounded in deep technical product management expertise, and ensures alignment across engineering, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver measurable outcomes. The Director leads the development of integrated product roadmaps, Agile delivery models, and technical planning processes that accelerate throughput, improve quality, and maximize customer value.
In parallel, the Director oversees the Agile Coaching team, setting the enterprise-wide coaching strategy and guiding the adoption of Agile frameworks across technology and business domains. This includes embedding Agile practices into delivery teams, enabling continuous improvement, and fostering a culture of transparency, collaboration, and technical excellence. Key Accountabilities:
Delivery Strategy
Drives enterprise-wide technology delivery strategy through deep technical product leadership and Agile execution
Leads development and execution of technology delivery strategy aligned with enterprise architecture and transformation goals
Partners across technology and business functions to shape tech-centric product strategies that optimize throughput, quality, and customer value
Oversees Agile planning and delivery across technical product teams, ensuring measurable outcomes through delivery metrics and iterative improvement
Guides creation of multi-year roadmaps integrating product vision, engineering capabilities, and Agile maturity to accelerate value realization.
Practice and Process Leadership
Leads Agile delivery performance and continuous improvement through data-driven practices and technical insight
Defines and tracks Agile delivery metrics across technical product teams (e.g., velocity, lead time, deployment frequency)
Drives continuous improvement in planning and execution using Agile and Lean principles
Provides strategic direction for reporting and analytics to support data-informed decisions across product, engineering, and architecture
Ensures visibility into delivery health, technical outcomes, and business impact
Communication & Business Engagement
Aligns technology and business stakeholders through clear communication and shared product vision
Serves as a strategic liaison between technology teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on product vision and delivery priorities
Translates complex technical concepts into business-relevant language to support informed decision-making
Facilitates alignment through stakeholder forums, sprint reviews, and executive updates
Promotes transparency across product roadmaps, delivery progress, and value realization.
Coaching & Capability
Builds and leads high-performing Technical Product Managers and Agile Coaches to elevate delivery maturity
Provides strategic leadership and coaching to Technical Product Managers, embedding Agile product management practices across engineering teams
Champions a culture of mentorship, continuous learning, and technical excellence
Defines role expectations and accountability frameworks in partnership with Technology leadership
Leads the Agile Coaching function, guiding adoption and scaling of Agile frameworks across engineering, architecture, and business-facing teams
Change Leadership
Drives enterprise Agile transformation and fosters a culture of innovation and adaptability
Acts as a change agent for organizational agility and innovation
Leads Agile transformation initiatives across technology and business domains
Embeds Agile principles into team practices and delivery models
Cultivates a culture of continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and customer-centric value delivery
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience in an area of supervisor with at least 3 years of management responsibility
- Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent Agile Product Management certification
- Agile Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), Agilist (SA) certification or other certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree (MBA or MS in a technical discipline) is strongly preferred
10+ years of progressive technology product management, software engineering, or IT delivery roles
5+ years in a senior leadership role managing product managers or cross-functional Agile delivery teams
Pragmatic Institute Product Management Certification
PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
Certified Product Manager (CPM) from AIPMM
ITIL Foundation Certification
Demonstrated success in
Developing and executing technical product strategies and roadmaps
Leading large scale digital transformation or modernization initiatives
Coaching and mentoring senior-level professionals and building high performing teams
Driving measurable business outcomes through product innovation and delivery
Technical & Strategic Competencies
Deep understanding of Agile methodologies, product lifecycle management, and enterprise Tech ecosystems
Strong technical fluency with the ability to engage in architectural and platform-level discussions
Experience with tools and frameworks for product planning, backlog management, and performance tracking (e.g., ATP, Jira, Aha!, OKRs)
Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant language and value propositions.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership
Experience facilitating cross-functional collaboration and resolving competing priorities across business and technology teams
Skilled in presenting to senior leadership, leading stakeholder forums, and maintaining transparency through regular updates and reporting
Change Leadership & Organizational Impact
Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and scale product management practices across large, matrixed organizations
Experience establishing or contributing to a Product Management Center of Excellence (COE) or similar governance structure is a plus
Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and outcome-driven delivery

Enterprise Product Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading product management in a complex, enterprise-scale tech environment, preferably in
healthcare, insurance, or regulated industries
Agile Transformation: Proven track record of implementing or scaling Agile product management practices across multiple teams or departments
Technical Road Mapping: Experience developing and executing multi-year technical product roadmaps aligned with enterprise architecture and business strategy
Cross-Functional Delivery: Experience working closely with engineering, architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions
Organizational Change: Experience leading change initiatives, including adoption of new frameworks, tools, or operating models across business and IT
Center of Excellence (COE): Experience establishing or contributing to a Product Management COE or similar governance structure is highly desirable
Strategic Communication: Ability to clearly articulate product vision, strategy, and priorities to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive leadership
Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in building trust and alignment across diverse stakeholder groups, managing competing priorities, and facilitating decision-making
Coaching & Mentorship: Strong capability in coaching Product Managers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and accountability
Analytical Thinking: Proficient in using data to inform decisions, measure outcomes, and drive continuous improvement
Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with product management and Agile tools such as ATP, Jira, Aha!, Confluence, Miro, and OKR platforms
Technical Acumen: Ability to engage in discussions on system architecture, APIs, data integration, and platform capabilities
This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work onsite, on average, 3 days per week. We are open to candidates located near one of the following office locations: Minnetonka, MN or Madison, WI.
The full salary grade for this position is $147,100 - $252,100. While the full salary grade is provided, the typical hiring salary range for this role is expected to be between $147,100 - $220,605. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
