Job Description

Venture Global LNG ("Venture Global") is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company's Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global's modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

We are seeking a Director, Advanced Work Packaging to be based in the Houston, TX area.

Position Overview:

The AWP Director is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the company's Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) program across all LNG facility development projects. This role ensures full alignment between engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operations through a disciplined AWP framework that drives predictable outcomes, reduced field rework, and improved labor productivity.

The Director will oversee AWP strategy, governance, tools, procedures, and implementation across multiple megaprojects, ensuring the owner's organization and subcontractors execute within a consistent, high-performance AWP environment.

The role will also require effective communication to Project and Executive Management for timely decision making and incorporation of stakeholder input. The role will have potential for travel to other project locations and contractor offices.

The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in EPC project execution and controls functions with strategic leadership skills to ensure robust forecasting, progress measurement, and integration of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) schedules into integrated master schedules.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

  • AWP Strategy and Governance

  • Develop and implement the company's enterprise-wide AWP strategy, policies, and standards in alignment with the overall project delivery model.

  • Establish an AWP governance framework defining roles, responsibilities, and deliverable expectations across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning.

  • Define and maintain AWP procedures, work processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that measure AWP maturity and performance across projects.

  • Oversee readiness reviews and AWP maturity assessments to ensure disciplined implementation and continuous improvement.

  • Lead the AWP Steering Committee and provide regular progress and performance reports to executive leadership.

  • Engineering and Procurement Integration

  • Ensure Engineering deliverables are structured and sequenced to support Construction Work Packages (CWPs) and Installation Work Packages (IWPs).

  • Collaborate with Engineering leadership to embed WorkFace Planning and path-of-construction thinking into design development.

  • Coordinate with Procurement to align material requisitions, tagging, and delivery schedules with the work packaging sequence and field execution plans.

  • Drive model-based data handover from engineering to construction using digital tools and standardized data schemas.

  • Construction and WorkFace Planning Integration

  • Support construction management and subcontractors in implementing field-level work packaging, constraint management, and workface planning practices.

  • Oversee the development of construction execution sequences, ensuring full alignment with the path of construction and engineering deliverables.

  • Review and validate Construction Work Packages (CWPs) and Installation Work Packages (IWPs) for completeness and readiness before release.

  • Champion productivity improvement through disciplined constraint removal, field readiness checks, and digital progress measurement.

  • Interface with subcontractors to ensure consistent AWP methodology, performance tracking, and lessons learned application.

  • Systems, Tools, and Data Integration

  • Lead the selection, deployment, and configuration of AWP and WorkFace Planning software tools (e.g., O3, Smart Construction, or internal systems).

  • Ensure integration between AWP systems and enterprise project controls, document management, 3D model, and materials management systems.

  • Establish data standards and digital workflows that enable automated handoffs and transparent status reporting across disciplines.

  • Drive digital transformation of construction planning and progress management using AWP as the foundational methodology.

  • Performance and Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track key AWP metrics including package completion rates, field readiness, constraint clearance, and rework trends.

  • Analyze project performance data to identify systemic barriers and recommend process improvements.

  • Lead training, coaching, and competency development programs to build AWP capability across internal staff and subcontractors.

  • Capture lessons learned and institutionalize best practices for future LNG project phases.

  • Leadership and Collaboration

  • Provide strategic leadership to a multidisciplinary AWP organization, including corporate specialists and project-level AWP managers.

  • Serve as the company's subject matter expert (SME) and external representative for AWP within the LNG and industrial construction industry.

  • Collaborate closely with Project Controls, Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning leadership to ensure full cross-functional alignment.

  • Foster a culture of proactive planning, collaboration, and accountability consistent with the company's execution philosophy.

Job Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in major capital project execution within the energy or industrial sector, including at least 5 years in an AWP leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of EPC work processes, path of construction development, and digital construction systems integration.
  • Experience implementing AWP in owner/operator or EPC environments for large-scale industrial or LNG projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and influence across organizational boundaries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • Familiarity with AWP software (e.g., O3, Smart Construction, WorkPacks, Jovix) and data integration with project systems (Primavera, SAP, SmartPlant, Site Sense, etc.).
  • Strong data analysis and reporting skills with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Smartsheet, and Office Timeline platforms.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL or similar relational database management systems preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, with strong critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic with ability to effectively prioritize, meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities and business needs, and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to efficiently summarize and prioritize information.
