Position Summary and PurposeThis role guides the development and operations of inpatient behavioral health programs and clinical services, in alignment with the strategic vision and plan of the organization to improve the mental health of our community. The director oversees managers and/or supervisors of clinical programs and departments that render inpatient clinical services and is responsible for ensuring all departments within scope adhere to the system and facility standards of care, best practices, system policies and procedures, and regulatory statutes. The director is a clinical expert in mental health, promoting the integration of evidence-based care supported by measured clinical and safety outcomes in a fiscally responsible manner. This role involves maintaining community involvement and partnerships that promote and serve our inpatient mental health service line, as well as legislative changes that impact the delivery of inpatient clinical care and billing for services. This leader is integral in driving the behavioral health strategy, outreach efforts, and reputation of UofL Health and Peace Hospital with internal and external stakeholders, including our Board of Directors. Furthermore, this role involves interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork, effective communication with other clinical and operational departments. This leader will be a strong collaborator with their outpatient director counterpart to ensure the referral patterns and continuity of care for our patients is a measurable, efficient, and patient-centered process.
Essential Functions: Assumes personal responsibility for obtaining and maintaining professional development/education to include research and presentations. Maintains or obtains relevant certification/licensure as appropriate.Maintains current and strong proficiency in the Kentucky State statutes guiding the delivery of mental health services across various professional boards and credential holders, to ensure compliance and clinical integrity of service delivery. Utilizes management, financial, regulatory, clinical and systems knowledge to assess market needs, functioning of units/services, programs, managers and staff; gathers data from variety of sources in systematic manner, tracking, trending, analyzing and synthesizing performance indicators.Demonstrates leadership in planning programs/services, interventions, policies, plans of correction, and management of staff. Initiating and pursuing program ideas and responding to community/market need, regulatory changes, patient service needs and quality service demands. Coordinates operations of services to assure the program philosophy is implemented; including recruitment of key positions to assure adequate professionals are available to achieve this objective.Identifies new strategic program opportunities within the full continuum of care. Designs, implements, and evaluates new program services. Engages in marketing and community relations activities to promote programs and services. Assesses participant referrals, as appropriate to determine clinical appropriateness and level of care recommendations. Provides oversight of human and fiscal resource utilization and financial performance, productivity, maintaining budgetary and safety guidelines
Other Functions:Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct. Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.Performs other duties as assigned.
