Job Description

About the Company

Our client is a highly respected full-service design/build remodeling firm based in New York City. Recognized for exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, and consistent client satisfaction, the company specializes in kitchen, bathroom, and whole-home renovations, as well as light commercial remodeling.

With decades of experience and a strong reputation throughout the region, the firm combines architectural vision, precise construction management, and a collaborative culture to deliver high-quality projects across the residential and commercial markets.

About the Position

The Director of Construction will lead all construction operations and serve as a key member of the senior leadership team. This role is being hired in advance of the current Director's upcoming retirement, ensuring a smooth transition and strong continuity of leadership.

The ideal candidate will oversee multiple concurrent renovation projects—typically ranging from $100K to $200K, with occasional projects exceeding $1M—while managing and mentoring project managers and field teams. This leader will maintain and enhance the company's well-established operational standards, drive efficiency, support quality control, and reinforce a culture of professionalism and client service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage company-wide construction operations and project delivery.
  • Oversee multiple projects and project managers simultaneously.
  • Maintain and elevate construction standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to company quality expectations.
  • Provide mentorship and performance management to project management staff.
  • Collaborate with design, estimating, and executive leadership to support company goals.
  • Participate in long-term operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proven leadership experience within residential or commercial remodeling or general construction.
  • Strong background overseeing multi-project operations in a high-detail environment.
  • Ability to manage, mentor, and develop project managers and field personnel.
  • Experience with projects ranging from $100K–$200K, with exposure to projects over $1M preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and client-facing skills.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and quality control.
  • New York City construction experience strongly preferred.

Benefits

  • Base Salary: $225,000–$250,000
  • Bonus Program
  • Company Equity
  • Additional benefits package (health, retirement, etc.)
  • Opportunity for long-term leadership impact within a well-established and growing firm.
