Job Description

Overview

A leading emergency care network in the Kansas City region is seeking an accomplished Director of Emergency Services to oversee strategic, operational, and clinical leadership across a high-volume, multi-site emergency department system.

This service line includes:

  • 25+ main ED beds

  • Dedicated rapid-care areas

  • A high-volume free-standing ED averaging 100+ visits/day

  • An additional ED location currently under development

This is a high-impact executive role ideal for an experienced emergency services leader ready to enhance performance, quality, and patient experience across an expanding emergency care network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction, operational oversight, and clinical leadership across multiple ED locations.

  • Lead a workforce of approximately 115 FTEs, ensuring effective staffing, scheduling, engagement, and performance.

  • Ensure delivery of patient-centered, evidence-based emergency care aligned with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.

  • Drive performance initiatives related to throughput, patient experience, quality outcomes, and operational efficiency.

  • Partner with medical directors, nursing leadership, and administrative teams to maintain cohesive service line operations.

  • Oversee budgeting, resource allocation, and key performance metrics for all ED sites.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional development, and high reliability.

Qualifications

Required

  • 2+ years of recent Director-level ED leadership in an acute care setting

    • (Strong ED Managers performing full Director-level duties may be considered)

  • Proven success improving ED performance, throughput, safety, and quality metrics

  • Bachelor’s degree (Nursing strongly preferred)

  • Active Missouri RN license or Compact RN license

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field

  • National emergency nursing/critical care certification (CEN, CCRN, etc.)
