Job Description

About Veratru

Veratru serves as a critical financial partner supporting the federal "No Surprises Act." When healthcare providers and insurance companies disagree on payment for out-of-network services, they enter a structured dispute resolution process.

While the arbitration administrators handle the decision-making, Veratru handles the money. We manage the complex flow of administrative and arbitration fees associated with these disputes. We are a technology-forward, process-driven company operating in a high-volume environment where accuracy and agility are paramount.

About the Role

The Director will serve as the principal owner for building and scaling systems, processes, and policies that reduce manual effort, mitigate financial risk, and ensure regulatory compliance in a rapidly growing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a player-coach mindset. Someone who can operate tactically as the function ramps, then leverage that insight to automate, standardize, and scale.

As the organization grows, you will lead and mentor a high-performing team, translate strategic objectives into clear operational plans, and serve as the primary escalation and communication point for complex financial matters involving external partners and internal accounting stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic System Ownership: Define and champion the long-term vision for Veratru’s financial systems architecture, driving the selection, integration, and adoption of technologies to transition from existing manual processes to fully automated, scalable financial operations (e.g., payment processing, AR/AP, and reconciliation).
  • Operational Excellence & Risk Mitigation: Establish robust financial control policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance protocols to ensure accuracy in handling high-volume administrative and conditional arbitration fees, minimizing financial exposure.
  • Team Leadership & Development: -Provide executive coaching and mentorship to the management layer and team of associates, focusing on career development, performance optimization, and building a highly resilient, high-performing financial operations function.
  • -Complex Financial Escalation: Serve as the final authority and principal point of contact for complex, escalated financial inquiries, including large-scale unapplied payment investigations, high-value remittance clarifications, and critical bank reconciliation discrepancies.
  • Financial Reporting & Audit Partnership: Oversee all daily and bi-monthly bank reconciliations and act as the primary liaison to the Accounting department, providing clean, reconciled data necessary for external audits, financial reporting, and forecasting.
  • -Process Design & Throughput: Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor operational throughput, identify systemic inefficiencies in cash application and refund processes, and rapidly deploy solutions to boost processing volume and speed.

You Will Be a Strong Fit If You Bring

  • Proven leader who has built or scaled high-volume financial or payment operations in regulated environments.
  • Strong accounting and operational foundation with hands-on experience in large-scale AR/AP, payments, or reconciliation.
  • Experience operating in audit-heavy environments with disciplined controls and documentation.
  • Hands-on, builder mindset with a track record of reducing manual work through process design and automation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to research, resolve, and prevent complex payment issues.
  • Ability to translate operational detail into scalable, long-term solutions.

Additional Requirements

  • Bonus if you have one of the following: CPA, Controller, or FinTech Experience
  • Must be based in the United States.
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Bonus: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
