About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Executive Construction Underwriter to build out our construction vertical book of business from the ground up.
As a Lead Construction Underwriter at CompScience, you will be the subject matter expert for the construction vertical, leveraging groundbreaking AI-powered underwriting tools for evaluating, pricing, and underwriting workers' compensation insurance for new and renewal business.
We are looking for our first ever Director of Insurance Product Management to build out our construction program from the ground up. As Director of Insurance Product Management, you will be the subject matter expert for the construction vertical, where you will shape appetite, pricing, and underwriting rules, leveraging groundbreaking AI-powered underwriting tools for evaluating, pricing, and underwriting workers' compensation insurance for new and renewal business.
Responsibilities
Be the subject matter expert and build out our construction program from the ground up
Define construction appetite and segmentation strategy, with strong alignment to loss drivers and data-informed underwriting decisions for new business, renewals, and endorsements
Prepares and develops premium quotations utilizing underwriting guidelines within letter of authority.
Work cross functionally with technical product teams to optimize hazard detection and risk management within our AI risk intelligence platform
Partner with risk services teams to optimize GTM strategy and new product launches
Develops and manages agency relationships, addressing agents’ and policyholders’ concerns/needs.
Ensure product and process compliance and build scalable operations for future products and enhancements.
Communicate product performance, trends, and strategy to leadership and cross-functional partners.
Required Experience
A minimum of 10 years experience in product management, underwriting, actuarial, or risk management with demonstrated technical knowledge in Workers Compensation, specifically within the construction vertical is required.
Experience optimizing and pricing segmented products using data, modeling, and loss ratio analysis
Comfortable with ambiguity, creative in building solutions, and rigorous in execution.
Clear, structured communication skills for both technical and non-technical leadership audiences
Ability to exercise advanced judgment skills in evaluating and determining the proper pricing for prospective policyholders using underwriting guidelines by accepting or rejecting risks for the purposes of issuing workers’ compensation insurance coverage.
Ability to manage agency relationships and demonstrated ability to make sound underwriting decisions.
