Director of Nursing Ellen Sagar Nursing Center – Union, SC / Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Lead with Purpose. Care with Compassion. We are seeking a Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department with skill, integrity, and vision. This is more than a leadership position—it is an opportunity to shape the standard of care for every resident we serve. What You Will Do: Organize, direct, and oversee all nursing operations with 24-hour responsibility and accountability. Plan, organize, collaborate, and direct activities to implement a high-quality clinical nursing program. Establish and enforce policies and procedures that comply with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, and current best practices. Maintain direct responsibility for waived testing performed in the facility (including glucose monitoring and hemoccult). Take immediate and appropriate action during emergencies to protect residents, staff, property, and equipment. Lead recruitment, retention, training, and continuing education for all nursing department staff. Act as Administrator in their absence, ensuring consistent leadership and operational oversight. Provide compassionate communication and responsive care to residents, families, and visitors from early adulthood through late adulthood. Minimum Requirements: Education: RN degree – Associate’s level required (BSN or MSN preferred). Experience: Strong computer skills with accuracy in typing. Ability to coordinate and file both electronically and on paper. Excellent professional communication skills. Licenses/Certifications: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from an approved nursing program. Core Leadership Responsibilities: Operational Excellence: Serve as a resource and liaison for physicians, administrators, supervisors, and nursing staff. Maintain professional communication with residents, families, caregivers, and guests. Ensure reports, documentation, and manuals are accurate and up to date. Oversee annual competencies for all associates in coordination with leadership teams. Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to CMS, long-term care, and other regulatory standards. Maintain HIPAA, HITECH, and resident confidentiality compliance. Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and clean environment for residents and staff. Identify and address risk management issues promptly. Technology & Resources: Utilize Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and facility systems for documentation and reporting. Oversee operation and maintenance of facility equipment and technology. Team Development: Support a collaborative, positive work environment. Lead educational programs and training initiatives for nursing staff. Attend staff meetings and stay current with facility policies, medical terminology, and departmental services.
