Director of Project Management & Preconstruction
COST of Wisconsin, Inc. creates award-winning themed construction for zoos, theme parks, resorts, casinos, museums, and more.
We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Project Management & Preconstruction to lead our project management, estimating, and preconstruction teams, from concept through closeout while developing talent, optimizing processes, and collaborating closely with clients and internal teams.
What You'll Do:
Lead, and train project managers, estimators, and preconstruction staff to success
Coordinate and align internal activities by establishing priorities, assigning responsibilities based on project requirements and team members' skill sets; lead project planning, bidding, budgeting, and execution
Build customer relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, sales, shops, and field construction
Ensure quality, safety, and profitability across all projects; help to manage schedules, deviations, subcontractor relations, etc.
Oversee estimating and construction progress, with a focus on budget adherence and quality standards
Ensure accurate, competitive, and professional preparation and presentation of bids, proposals, contracts, and project plans
Monitor project financials, negotiate and understand contracts; and address cost projections, change orders, requisition reviews, and risk reporting
Drive team development and individual performance through coaching, setting KPI measures, and mentoring
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's in construction management, project management, civil engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years progressive experience in preconstruction, project management, and estimating
- 5+ years in a direct leadership role, leading, managing, and setting metrics for cross-functional team members
- Strong skills in estimating, scheduling, budgeting, cost control, contract interpretation, and risk management
- PMP and OSHA-10 certifications required
- LEED accreditation, field experience, and design-build background preferred
- Experience with tools like Procore, MS Project, and ERP systems
- Positive and solutions-oriented, with a steady approach to ambiguity, challenges, and daily demands
