Position Summary:
Director of Campus Security provides safety leadership and daily oversight of Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada's (CCSN's) physical daytime security operations, and ensures the protection of personnel, property, information and visitors to the agency. Ensures agency compliance with safety standards, implements safety directives, improves safety performance, and ensures safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations. In addition, the Director oversees emergency action planning and advises and supports the Vice President of Operations.
Essential Responsibilities- Security:
- Promote and instill a team culture of inclusiveness, high performance, and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
- Lead and mentor department team members by providing positive support and guidance and holding staff accountable for department goals and procedures.
- Attract, develop, coach, and retain high-performance team members, and empower them to elevate their level of responsibility through positive reinforcement and effective leadership.
- Responsible for the day-to-day staffing and operations of the daytime Campus Uniformed Security force, and the Surveillance Operations Center ("SOC").
- Constantly evaluate security operations with a mindset that will improve efficiencies and client support in alignment with CCSN's Mission.
- Establish department directives and polices for a sound security force operation.
- Ensure the coordination of security procedures with other departments and agencies and all of the agency properties.
- Conduct investigations involving threats or damages to agency personnel, property and information.
- Ensure the scheduling of Campus Security personnel and manage manpower requirements as economically as possible.
- Establish and coordinate training for daytime security operations personnel. Direct and monitor staff to ensure that they present a positive image. Document all security training and place a copy of the documentation in the employee's Human Resources file. Ensure that all training is refreshed annually.
- Responsible for the oversight of payroll and time keeping processes for daytime Campus Security personnel.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
- Oversee maintenance and upgrades of security technology systems.
- Maintain accurate incident reports and analyze trends to improve security protocols.
Essential Responsibilities- Safety:
- Responsible for the overall safety program for Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada including emergency response. Work collaboratively with all Agency departments to ensure a safe environment for employees and clients.
- Ensure the workplace is following OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Coordinate safety training programs and ensure compliance of applicable employees. Ensure all training is documented in each employee's HR file.
- Conduct all workers' compensation investigations in collaboration with the Human Resources Department. Conduct investigations of accidents on property and those off-site involving agency employees and/or vehicles. Develop a systemic process to collect data and analyze accident causes. Generate required reporting.
- Submit any required reports or documents as requested by insurance company.
Essential Responsibilities- Other:
- Initiate and implement new policies and procedures to continuously improve existing processes in order to enhance safety.
- Participate with executive leadership team in organizational development and strategic planning activities; ensure that established objectives are met or exceeded.
- Coordinate special projects.
- Protect all confidential information, company property and electronic data. Comply with safety rules.
- Other related duties as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including clients, colleagues, board members, volunteers, donors, partner organizations, law enforcement and others within Non-Profit Industry.
- Ability to bring together a group of individuals to work cohesively as a team.
- Ability to hold team accountable and enforce company policies and procedures. Ability to influence others to perform.
- Ability to identify specific problematic issues and initiate a sound solution.
- Ability to make presentations, deliver training and develop reports that may include technical information.

- Possess excellent oral and written communication as well as management skills.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA)
- Sound judgment to ability to work autonomously.
- Proficiency in computers and software including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- In-depth knowledge of Nevada Revised Statutes., specifically Trespass, MDPP, Burglary, Battery, Assault and Robbery.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in criminal justice, security administration, industrial security, industrial hygiene or other related field; or a combination of education and years of experience with an Accredited Law Enforcement Agency, can be substituted for education. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Five years of experience administering a complete security operation or five years of continuous service with an accredited Law Enforcement Agency, with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Minimum of five years of work experience in safety or combination of education and related equivalent experience.
- Experience managing and projecting budgets.
- Have established relationships with local Law, State and Federal Law Enforcement agencies.
- Flexible schedule to work after hours and weekends, as necessary.
- Must be at least 25 years old, have a valid Driver's License with current minimum Nevada state required auto insurance.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to hear, see, read and communicate verbally and in writing frequently with a wide range of people from divergent socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and origins. Ability to communicate with donors, volunteers, board and co-workers.
- Ability to work throughout the agency and off site. Ability to operate and use office equipment, especially computer, keyboard and mouse.
- Ability to continuously sit and/or stand. Ability to climb stairs and ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling and grasping as needed.
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Occasional exposure to environmental noises and hazards; frequent exposure to extreme cold, extreme heat, temperature changes, and other atmospheric conditions.
