Job Description
The Dispatcher is responsible for managing driver route execution, finding cost effective and timely solutions for reactive delivery requests and ensuring delivery system updates are processed correctly while maintaining a high standard of service and efficiently utilizing field resources (employees, equipment, fuel etc.).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop customer-focused, cost-effective solutions for reactive delivery requests using route planning software, mapping tools, and local area knowledge.
- Provide customers with real-time updates and estimated times of arrival (ETA) during the planning process.
- Maintain accurate and timely updates in JDE Enterprise One Case Management.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining route and schedule changes.
- Analyze and review routes to ensure efficiency and adequate resource allocation for excellent service delivery.
- Collaborate with the dispatch management team to develop tailored solutions for remote or special customer requirements.
- Ensure reporting systems are updated and maintained accurately and promptly.
- Monitor daily delivery routes for compliance with routing solutions and resolve issues as needed.
- Maintain constant communication with drivers to ensure routes are practical and manageable. Audit compliance, address concerns, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Re-optimize routes affected by reactive customer requests using cost-effective strategies.
- Analyze updates to customer delivery requirements and their impact on routing systems.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1+ years of experience using dispatch/routing management software (e.g., Ortec, Roadnet, JDE Enterprise One).
- At least 1+ years of experience in managing a multi-stop dispatch environment and overseeing driver route compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to make cost-effective decisions while meeting customer needs.
- Demonstrated commitment to a "safety-first" work environment.
- Experience with mapping, route development, and auditing systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; experience with MS Access preferred.
- Familiarity with importing and exporting data from various systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a results-driven mindset and accountability for outcomes.
- Ability to ensure compliance through effective communication, consistent follow-up, and detailed reporting.
- Experience with pressurized systems and high-pressure cylinder delivery.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
Preferred Experience:
- 3+ years of work experience, including customer support, with strong communication and critical-thinking skills.
- Dispatching experience is a plus.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, overtime, and adapt to changing schedules as needed.
