Job Description
Location: Durham, NC
Schedule: Part-Time, As Needed/On Call (No guarantee of hours; hours scheduled based on employer needs)
Reports to: National Director Disaster Recovery
Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible, professional, and customer-focused individual to join our team. This dual-role position involves driving vehicles nationwide with direct customer interaction, performing minor vehicle maintenance, and supporting warehouse operations including inventory handling and kit assembly.
This is an on-call, as-needed position with no guarantee of hours. Work is assigned based on business needs, and employees may accept assignments based on their own availability.
Key Responsibilities:
Driving (Nationwide & Customer-Facing):
- Safely drive and deliver vehicles between company locations and customer destinations across the U.S.
- Interact professionally with customers during vehicle pick-ups, deliveries, and deployments ensuring a positive and courteous experience
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and document condition
- Perform walkarounds with customers and handle delivery documentation
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and represent the company positively while traveling
- Comply with all DOT, state, and federal driving regulations
Vehicle Maintenance (Minor):
- Perform basic maintenance tasks such as checking fluid levels, inflating tires, replacing wiper blades, and cleaning vehicles as needed
- Report any major mechanical issues or needed repairs to management
- Ensure all vehicles are transport-ready and presentable
Warehouse Duties:
- Assist with receiving, loading, and unloading inventory and equipment
- Organize and store parts, tools, and supplies in designated areas
- Assemble and build kits as directed (may include tools, vehicle accessories, or promotional materials)
- Perform general cleaning and maintenance of the warehouse environment
- Operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, hand trucks)
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license held for at least 3 years (CDL is a plus but not required)
- Clean driving record and ability to travel nationwide as needed
- Comfortable driving a variety of vehicles (cars, SUVs, light and medium trucks)
- Basic mechanical aptitude; ability to perform simple vehicle maintenance
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle physical warehouse tasks
- Prior experience in driving, vehicle transport, warehouse operations, or customer service is a plus
- Must be at least 21 years old
Work Environment:
- Combination of road travel and warehouse work
- Customer-facing interactions at vehicle pickup/drop-off locations
- Exposure to varying weather conditions when working outdoors or traveling
- Fast-paced environment with moderate physical demands
- On-the-job training in vehicle handling, maintenance, and warehouse operations
Schedule & Availability:
- This is an on-call, part-time position with no guaranteed hours
- Hours and assignments are determined based on company needs
- Availability for short notice travel is highly preferred
Travel Accommodations:
- Employer covers all airfare and hotel accommodations for travel assignments
- A daily meal per diem is provided while travelling.
- All travel is arranged and reimbursed according to company policies
- Paid travel expenses and daily meals per diem during trips per company policy
